Anybody Want To Live On a Ferry?
· Posted Sunday July 23, 2006 by jamie
I’m sure many people have seen the MV Annabelle ferry sitting at Petrich Dock on the Foss under the Murray Morgan Bridge downtown, set up for living. If you’re anything like me, you are fascinated by the idea of living on a ferryboat such as the Annabelle. (Check out this old Seattle P-I article for more info on the Annabelle.)
Well, if you want to make it happen, your chance may be here. No, the Annabelle is not for sale (that I know of). However, Pierce County is replacing the MV Steilacoom, a 70-year old ferry currently used as the back up ferry for the Steilacoom-Anderson Island run, and they plan to sell it soon, possibly on eBay. The asking price is still undetermined, but it is still certified by the Coast Guard for use.
And if you don’t want to live on it, maybe you could start offering ferry trips out of Tacoma. Anyone for an alternate way to get to Gig Harbor?
