Kicking off baseball season with the Rainiers

· Posted Friday April 7, 2006 by jamie

Well, the site is still coming together and we are working through some design issues, but what better way to get the site content started than an observation of the start of something else: baseball season! Joined some friends yesterday evening for the home opener of the Tacoma Rainiers, and a great time was had by all.

For all of the media coverage of Cheney Stadium being a relic of the past, I contend that it really is a great place to watch baseball. Sure, it would be cool if we had a nice, new downtown baseball stadium. But Cheney has comfy seats, great sight-lines, and awesome food, and you can get out under $20/person, even with a beer and springing for the “reserved” seats. Plus there are lots of places nearby to park and walk if you don’t want to spring for the pay lot. You really can’t beat that. Certainly easier (and much cheaper) than the trip up to Safeco…

Anyway, we’re really looking forward to our 7-game mini-plan for some great Sunday afternoon baseball, augmented with maybe a few Dollar Deals Thursdays.

Even if you aren’t a big baseball fan, I’d highly recommend heading out to Cheney for a game. Let’s make sure we can keep this team in town.
