Mattson House Demolition Redux: TNT's Barbara Clements Digs Deeper

· Posted Thursday May 18, 2006 by jamie

So wow, the local bloggers are all over the sudden demolition of the Mattson House on North Verde, and Barbara Clements over at the TNT has brought a lot of new info to the table on her real estate blog. Sounds like she was maybe tipped off by someone in the neighborhood, given all of the info, and they are none too happy.

My favorite part:

After interviewing just about everyone around the destruction of the historic Mattson Mansion last week-except for the new owner (his caste doesn’t call my caste back as a rule)- I come away feeling sad, and more than a bit angry.

Classic.

Even if somehow the house was in poor enough condition to require teardown, which seems to be in question, why not try to salvage some of the materials? And why, God, why open up the property for a paintball game? (Looks like there may be a story to look forward to on this, possibly in the paper…)

Geez Barbara, sounds like you’re on board with all of us sentimental preservationists… When are you selling your house in Kent and moving to Tacoma?

And question is, are we really looking at a $7 million megamansion being built on the property? It would be nice to see the design that have to get some sort of neighborhood approval to ensure that it fits the character of the area…

See my earlier post here. See also this, that, and the other over at Exit 133.
