Grandfield's Gone For Good

· Posted Monday May 15, 2006 by jamie

Well, it’s official, the Grandfield’s Coffee drive-thru in the Stadium
District has been cruelly dismantled. Time was, they made some of the best coffee in town. Several baristas later, our enthusiasm waned, but we were still shocked to hear that they had closed a few months ago. Here is the sad pile of rubble that was left today. You can almost make out “sorry closed” on the surviving readerboard.

Certainly seems like they could have sold the coffee hut structure to someone else starting a business elsewhere. It perhaps looked strange in the neighborhood, but was definitely a cute building. What a wasteful society we live in that we must always build anew that which already exists.

  1. I was thinking the same thing about saving the building. I saw that machinery sitting there for a few days. It looked like that building wasn’t permanent..

  2. My wife use to work at Grandfields and wasn’t a big fan of the way theowners treated their employees. So here’s at least one household that’s not all that sad to see it go… The land’s value is probably at the point that we’ll see yet another condo project go up.
