Tides Tavern Breakfast in Gig Harbor
· Posted Monday May 15, 2006 by jamie
So the Mothers’ Day weekend plans for us involved meeting for breakfast with each set of parents on one of the days. Saturday was breakfast with my folks, and we decided to meet in Gig Harbor, park at the Tides Tavern, and see what we could find for places to eat. Lucky for us, the Tides is open on Saturday and Sunday for breakfast (8-11 am), so we ate there. A good time was had by all, and the food was great.
We found the menu to be unique for a breakfast place. It very much concentrated on the omelets/scrambles sort of fare, instead of giving a bunch of space to various permutations of eggs/meat/hashbrowns. This was great for us, as breakfast menus are usually pretty limiting for us in that we generally avoid eating beef and pork. In fact, the biscuits and gravy there is actually made with chicken & apple sausage…it is almost as if we wrote the menu. (If you absolutely need bacon, there are a couple of options…)
Anyway, the scrambles we got were delicious. Great homefries, good bread for toast. The coffee was served in nice big mugs. Attentive waitstaff checked up regularly and kept the coffee mugs full. We sat inside by the window, but there is some great porch seating, and either way it’s a kick to watch the boats coming and going from the marinas.
It is certainly out of our way on your average Saturday or Sunday morning, so breakfast at the Tides will not become a regular thing by any means, but I give my full recommendation for the place if you find yourself in that direction and hungry!
