Farrelli's Pizza at Poole's Corner

· Posted Wednesday May 10, 2006 by jamie

We went out to dinner with our wonderful next door neighbors Bill and Judy the other night, and decided to try out the Farrelli’s Pizza branch that recently opened in the Poole’s Corner building at Sixth and Union. We can report that the pizza is pretty darn good, though by no means to die for.

Atmosphere was kinda sports-bar-ish, with big plasma TVs and the greatest hits of the ‘90s playing on the sound system. It was maybe a little bit noisy, but no more so that I would have expected. The service was very friendly as well.

We had a garden salad and veggie pizza. The salad was nice and crisp, and the blue cheese I had was tasty. As for the pizza, the crust was relatively tasty (brick-oven style), and it had a good set of toppings, including sundried tomato and pine nuts. (Aside: next time you buy pine nuts at the store, be sure to check out the “ingredients” list on the package, which usually will be “pine nuts” and nothing else…I guess I understand why but it always seems kind of ridiculous to list a single ingredient.)

We were certainly happy with the experience and the food, but given that we have several other pizza restaurants pretty high on our list already, I don’t think we’ll be going out of our way to head back to Farrelli’s when we could go to Puget Sound Pizza or Rock Pasta. But that said, we certainly wouldn’t avoid it!

  1. A few friends and I went out to Fahrelli’s about a week ago. I found them a little overpriced. The pizza was good, but I’d take PSP over them.

There’s a bit more authenticity, and they’re not a chain.

  2. Great Food! Great Service! Hands down beats Puget Sound Pizza- it would be a joke to compare the two

  3. Farrelli’s Pizza is 100% family owned and operated, the only reason to refer to Farrelli’s as a chain, would be the fact that the family has linked itself together for ethical buisness leadership- keep your eye on this family they will inspire!

  4. Don, to quote Jeff “The Dude” Lebowski, “well, that’s just, like, your opinion, man.” You’re totally entitled to that, just as I’m entitled to prefer PSP. Thanks for commenting, though. If we all agreed, the world would be much more boring.

  5. Farrelli’s is okay but he toppings are bit fancy for me (I really hate nuts and fish on my pizza). I wish PSP had more tables because there’s never any seats, which sucks, but I think PSP’s pizza tastes better than Farrelli’s.
