Central Area Mixed Use Centers: A Public Meeting

Tomorrow, Thursday, May 5th, the Central Neighborhood Council will be hosting planning staff from the Community and Economic Development department for an informal presentation on potential changes to zoning as they pertain to Mixed Use Centers in the Central Area. Particular areas being considered for changes are the MLK Mixed Use Center, the 6th and Pine Mixed Use Center, and the Tacoma Central Mixed Use Center (AKA Allenmore AKA the Target Business District).

I think flyers have gone out to most Central neighborhood residents, but others may have interest, so here are the details (sorry for the all-caps, it’s a cut-and-paste and I’m too lazy to retype the whole thing):

YOU ARE INVITED TO AN INFORMAL PRESENTATION AT THE MONTHLY MEETING OF THE CENTRAL NEIGHBORHOOD COUNCIL TO LEARN MORE ABOUT MIXED USE CENTERS. PLANNING STAFF FROM THE COMMUNITY & ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT WILL BE ON HAND TO GET YOUR IDEAS ABOUT POTENTIAL CHANGES TO THE COMPREHENSIVE PLAN & ZONING PERTAINING TO MIXED USE CENTERS IN THE CENTRAL AREA. THE PLANNING COMMISSION AND THE CITY COUNCIL MAY CONSIDER THE PROPOSED CHANGES THIS YEAR AS PART OF THE ANNUAL AMENDMENT TO TACOMA’S COMPREHENSIVE PLAN.
