Streetcar Advisory Committee Meeting Tonight

· Posted Monday March 26, 2007 by jamie

The City of Tacoma streetcar advisory committee meets tonight (March 26th) from 4-7pm in the Tacoma Municipal Building North annex, Room 16, for the latest monthly meeting to research the feasibility of a “streetcar-like” system for Tacoma on behalf of the City Council. (“Streetcar-like” is the language of the council, not myself, intended to leave options as wide open as possible…) The findings of this effort, which has included the public along the way, have big bearing on whether the vision of new dad Morgan Alexander (founder of TacomaStreetcar.org) might come to fruition in the foreseeable future.

Attendance has been waning at these meetings, but their importance grows as we near the delivery of the group’s findings back to the council, which will essentially determine whether or not they enter the next phase of trying to bring streetcars to Tacoma.

Yes, the time of the meeting sucks for, you know, everyone, but this is a great opportunity to work towards something that could have really neat implications for connecting the neighborhoods of Tacoma. I hope to see some of you there.
