Choose Downtown Dining with the Wheel of Food
· Posted Thursday February 15, 2007 by jamie
Having a hard time deciding where to grab lunch downtown or dinner in your neighborhood? Well, the wonders of Web 2.0 mash-upping have converged to serve your needs in the form of (wait for it, and image echo-y voice) The Wheel of Food!!!
Let’s see, enter a zip code (98402 for D’town T-Town), leave the search as food, click the button…and up pops a spinning wheel with several restaurant choices pulled from the Yahoo Local directory. Will it be Johnny’s Dock? Taco Del Mar? Jack in the Box??? The wheel slows to reveal that, were I looking for somewhere to eat, Sea Grill would be a good choice. I guess that’s somewhere on my list of places to try, so we’ll have to see about that…
Let’s look closer to home in the good ol’ 98405… Happy to see that the local search does not end at the edge of the zip code, so the choices include such 98406 restaurants as Engine House. Uh oh, my neighborhood arch-nemesis Taco Bell is on the list (pick up a lot of taco wrappers). This can’t be good. Spinning, spinning…slowing… Ooh, ooh, I might get Il Fiasco. Pick Il Fiasco!!! Nooooooo! It can’t be!! KFC!!!? Son of a…
So maybe you can’t rely on it to make the final decision, but if you’re having a hard time narrowing it down, maybe The Wheel of Food can break the ice. Fun toy, check it out.
