Tacoma Word-of-the-Day

· Posted Tuesday December 19, 2006 by jamie

Ok, so maybe Vertical Mounting Assets didn’t take off as I had hoped, but I’m here with another new Tacoma word to rock your socks off.

Here it is: TacoMall.

Why just say “the Mall”, or waste your syllables on “Tacoma Mall”? (Or even worse, “Simon Tacoma Mall”.) “TacoMall” is clear and concise. (Christmas season alternative: “TacoMaul”.)

A quick Google search brings up a bunch of sites in Chinese (I think), so here’s my stake in the sand for pioneering a new term. Spread it far and wide.

  1. Vertical mounting assets got somewhat of a start. We were in the process of moving at work during the VMA push. My female co-workers started calling me their vertical mounting asset because of all the picture frames and bulletin boards I was attaching to the walls. Say….do you think there was any kind of double entendre intended?

Back to the matter at hand. I like the concept, but the term TacoMall at first glance looks like a large outlet for mexican food. Does Tacomall read better?

  2. Mike, I considered that alternate capitalization…maybe it's better. But it brings into question the pronounciation as well. Should it be pronounced like “taco mall”, or more run together, emphasis on the “co” as if saying “tacoma” with an “l” at the end?

I should have though more about these things…
