Tacoma Goings-On For Thursday, April 27, 2006
· Posted Wednesday April 26, 2006 by jamie
I probably won’t even try to make a regular practice of collecting lists of what’s going on around town, but enough interesting things are going on that people might be interested in checking out that I will provide one for Thursday:
- Tacoma Water Conservation Open House (TPU Adminstration Building, 35th and Union, 4:00pm-7:00pm, presentation at 5:00): Help Tacoma Water to shape their new water conservation plan. Learn about existing and possible future programs, and see demonstrations of some new technology. An opportunity will be provided for you to offer your opinions. Free water conservation gadgets will be given out (yippee!) and refreshments will be provided.
- Terry Tempest Williams Earth Day Lecture (PLU Lagerquist Concert Hall, 7:30pm): Famed Mormon environmentalist(!) and author Terry Tempest Williams will be giving a lecture to wrap up PLU’s Earth Week activities. She is supposed to be a great speaker. Tickets are free, but limited. See here for more details.
- Dine Out For Life (Various): Eat out at any of several restaurants to earn money for the Pierce County Aids Foundation. For once, eating out will be a good deed.
- Dollar Beer Night at the Rainiers (Cheney Stadium, 6:05pm): Last, but certainly not least. Lots of stuff for a dollar (hot dogs, ice cream, sodas, etc.), but of course all we care about is the beer. Sure it’s Bud, but c’mon, we’re talking baseball games here. Play ball!
I’m hoping to do one or more of these if work doesn’t keep me in.
Get out and do something!
